The best option to reach Mauritius is by taking a flight from India or boarding a holiday cruise. We took a flight to reach Mauritius it cost-effective and you can save your time. It was a morning flight at 07:45 and I happened to see beautiful clouds and finally landed in Mauritius. It was a pleasant climate.
Our Stay
We stayed at Ambre Mauritius Resort for a week. It is located at Belle Mare, on the east coast of Mauritius. We took a Sea facing room which had a wonderful view of sunrise and the real nature of beauty. The property is provided with Bar & Restaurants, Spa, Massage centres, water sports etc.
A view from our room
We got settled in our room and got ourselves relaxed. It was a very pleasant stay for us in this beautiful Sun Resort.
Day 1:
We started our day with a delicious breakfast and we went to Île aux Cerfs (Deer Island in English). It is a privately owned paradise island of Mauritius with white sandy beaches. This Island is open to tourist all days from 09:00 Hrs to 18:00 Hrs. We took a speed boat to reach the island, this shuttle service is available every 30 minutes. This Speed boat transfer includes Grand River South East Waterfall view and transfer between Île aux Cerfs.
The best things to do in this Island Île aux Cerfs are:
- Golfing
- Parasailing
- Snorkelling
- Waterskiing
- Banana Rides
- Tube Riding
- Underwater Walk
- Zip Lining
- Cruise Ride
There were 4 restaurants but our choice was La Chaumiere Masala. It is built on stilts and is surrounded by trees, this gave us a great ambience with a gorgeous view of the bluish-green beach.
All the above rides come under a single package and if you want u can also opt for the selected rides. We went for an Underwater walk, zip-lining and a speed boat drive.
Day 2:
It was a bit of a sunny day, after our breakfast, we took a South Day tour. We took a Taxi went to Le Port Ship Model Factory where we happen to see beautiful vintage ship models.
Next, we visited the diamond factory which was really amazing and informative and came to know about how the diamond is being made from the diamond ore.
Other than that we came across various types of precious stones and some jewellery and watches were made out of these stones which were elegant to see.
Next, we travelled to a Trou Aux Cerfs (it's a Volcano Crater). The crater which we saw was formed some million years ago, our guide said, "as per expects this volcano is currently dormant but could get active anytime within next thousand years".
Next, we travelled to Ganga Talao (commonly known as Grand Basin) where we happened to see Gaint statues of Lord Durga and Lord Mangal Mahadev
This place is considered to be the most sacred Hindu place in Mauritius. Sivarthri will be a great festival in Mauritius. Also around this basin, there are many temples dedicated to Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganapathy & Goddess Ganga.
Next, we travelled a while to Valley of Colours Nature park. firstly we finished our lunch and we enquired how to explore the places inside the park. We had an option to rent a bike but we took a walk. It was really a nice park with beautiful views. This park is well-known for its 23 colours of soil.
We saw some of the animals in the park among all the animals the tortoise which I saw was very big and I haven't seen anywhere like this. It was really amazing to see them which resemble a huge rock.
At the end of the south tour, we reached our resort and relaxed in the evening by having a walk at the seashore.
Day 3:
On our third day of the tour, we went to the North part of Mauritius. The northern part is mainly a city tour with malls, ports etc.
First, we went to a Shri Prasanna Venkateswara temple and it resembles that we were in India. The Gurukkal who was making poojas in that temple is from South India.
Next, we travelled to Sri Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. We had to take an entrance ticket to go inside it was 200 MUR (Approx. 350 INR). This place is known for its long pond of Gaint Water Lilles, this garden looks a little dense and has a large area to walk around. We happen to see some tortoise, Deer and all.
Next, we travelled to Port Louis Waterfront Shopping mall, where we had our lunch and did some shopping and spent our time over there
Next, we travelled to Fort Adelaide from where u can see the beautiful view of the city, and harbour.
End of the day of the North Tour, we were back at our resort and relaxed.
Day 4:
We started our day with a nice sunbath in the calm seashore and we took a long walk on the beach.
We did some water rides on the Ambre private beach and explored the complete resort. Actually, it took us half of the day to look around the resort.
In the evening I had a dazzling candlelight dinner with my Love, on the beachfront. That evening was one of the best evenings of my life.
As a whole Mauritius was a wonderful trip with lots of amazing memories, even there were some more places to visit. If you get a chance to go do explore the places.
For your information, the currency used in Mauritius is the Mauritian Rupee (1 MUR = 1.76 INR). When you are travelling don't forget to take suncream lotions with you.
We explored the place in our style and came back from Mauritius with a lot of fruitful memories hope you can go and explore the place whenever you get a chance.
