Importance of Hemoglobin in the blood!

  • Haemoglobin is a protein found in your red blood cells, which helps to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide and helps to give blood in its own colour red and also it is said that 97% of oxygen is carried by the blood from the lungs is carried through haemoglobin and the other 3% is dissolved by plasma which is also a part of blood.
  • Haemoglobin plays an important role in maintaining the shape of red blood cells.
  • Haemoglobin is usually measured by taking a Complete Blood Count (CBC) test from your blood sample.   

Haemoglobin ranges a person should have:

  • Newborn babies: 17 to 22 gm/dl
  • Children: 11 to 13gm/dl
  • Adult Males: 13.5 to 17.5gm/dl
  • Adult Women: 12 to 15.5gm/dl

    Consuming the foods that are rich in iron, folic acid and vitamin B12 help in increasing the haemoglobin level. Here I'll mention some foods which I have personally, consumed some foods which helped me a lot in increasing my Haemoglobin level.

Pomegranate


    Pomegranates are one of the healthiest fruits on earth and it comes under the category of berry. These pomegranates are rich in Fiber, Vitamins, and also rich in Iron. 174 grams of pomegranate contains

  • Protein: 3 grams
  • Vitamin C: 30% of the RDI
  • Vitamin K: 36% of the RDI
  • Folate: 16% of the RDI

    These are the foods that I have taken to increase my Haemoglobin level. Here I'll tell you about how I used to take these foods to increase my haemoglobin level.  

    I'll have 10 to 15 raisins soaked in water for the whole night in the empty stomach by morning and twice a week I used to drink 200ml beetroot juice too. As a fruit to my diet, I'll have an Apple and 100 grams of pomegranate daily in my diet. Regularly, I used to have a Pomegranate juice by adding dates to it.
